President's Message
I want to wish a Happy Easter and Passover to everyone and their families. This month we also have our annual picnic at the North Jetty on Sunday April 15th. For Met fans it's is the 50th Anniversary that they have been in existence (most of them have been very frustrating).
Unfortunately, it’s also the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Ptl Phillip Cardillo. He was murdered in Harlem at the Nation of Islam Mosque on April 14, 1972. His murder has never been solved. Keep him your thoughts and prayers and let’s hope someday his killers will be brought to justice.
50/50 at the Feb. meeting was won by Rich Adler (me) $20.00 and Mark Meyers $15.00. Both of us donated the winnings back to the club. I would like to welcome new members Jack Neusey and Lou Bavaro. Dues are now past due and are now $30.00. Due to the fact we are having our picnic on April 15th there will be NO meeting on April 25th. Next meeting will May 23rd. I hope to see all of you at the picnic.

ATop of the morning to all! The month of March, brings to us, the long-awaited springtime, and with that comes our favorite Irish holiday, “St. Patrick’s Day”. We are holding our annual “St. Patrick’s Day” meeting at the FOP Lodge 3 at 3600 Circus Blvd, Sarasota. Our meal of corned beef and cabbage will be cooked by our member gourmet chefs and like last year our soda bread will be provided by Sue Moravsky mom. So come hungry and enjoy the meal. At this time, I’d like to take a moment to speak about our dues. As we all know it is important that all members of the club pay their dues on time! Our organization uses those funds to pay for things necessary for the operation of the club and certain functions for our members. I would like to restate that the club annual calendar runs from January 1 through December 31. We start collecting the dues for the following year, starting at the beginning of November. We then allow three months of grace, which ends March 31, to pay for that year’s, dues. Please send in your dues, the club board members would appreciate a prompt payment and if you pay by March 31, you can save $5 off the $30 annual dues. This issue of the Newsletter will be the last for those who have not paid their dues by the end of March. PLEASE, send your check to our Treasurer, Rich O’Brien. His address is 9820 Royal Lytham Ave., Bradenton, Florida 34202. Indicate on the check whether this is a renewal for 2012 or if you are a new member. Another quick reminder, our annual club picnic is approaching, and will be held on April 15th at the North Jetty in Nokomis. Only paid members, their family and friends will be permitted to attend for only $10 per head (children 12 and under are free). See you at the next meeting!
